1971 Gibson Les Paul Custom Ebony finish. Here is an early 70s Gibson Les Paul custom in Ebony finish. Double multi-ply bound Mahogany body with a carved Maple top. Early 70s profile Mahogany neck with a 12” radius ebony fingerboard and a nut width of 42.5mm. The guitar has had a re-fret at some point in time with narrow tall vintage style frets just like the old fretless wonders.
The pickups are T tops pat number, the wiring is stock and the only pot that can be dated dates 1971. The pickups covers have been removed showing the two bobbins. The original pickup covers are no longer with the guitar.ABR1 bridge and stop bar. The saddles have been changed to graphite saddles and a new set of Studs have been fitted. It currently has a set of gold grover tuners fitted although it shows that there were a set of Schaller tuners fitted at some stage as there is extra holes on the side of the tuners. The guitar is in good condition for its age, although it does show buckle rush at the back, some small marks on the top, a few dings on the sides and general playing wear. The neck was refinished at some stage for some reason we are unaware of. We can not see signs of repairs so a headstock break might not have been the reason for the refin. There is also abnormal extra strap button hole on top shoulder as well as 2 extra holes either side of the back strap button. These were probably drilled to fit a bigsby tremolo. Currently has a set of repro speed knobs fitted, the original Witch hat do cone with it, however one is broken. Excellent player and killer sounding custom. This guitar weighs 4.495kg or 9.9 Lb. Comes with a hardshell case.
