1964 Fender Stratocaster Refin Burgundy Mist with original hard shell case. Here we have a very special early ’64 Strat.

This guitar has all the features of a ’63 plus a super rare light weight Mahogany Body and padouck fingerboard.
During the early ‘64 Fender did experiment with tone woods such as Mahogany and Korina as an alternate to the usual Ash and Alder.
Very few guitars were made as such.
This guitar did leave the factory as a custom colour Burgundy Mist metallic which was one of the rarest custom colours offered between 1960 and 1965.
The guitar lost its finish due to some freezing conditions, fortunately the original colour was left inside the the cavities and pickup routes. The colour restoration was matched to the cavity colour by master refinisher Clive Brown and sympathetically aged to match. The neck finish and decal are factory and original. The neck stamp date is 2 APR 64B. The lacquer at the back of the neck has a silky and smooth feel from the years of playing. The Padouk fingerboard has some nice figuring and there is no pitting. Original frets, a bit on the low side but very functional.
The nut was replaced with a quality bone replacement and measures the usual 42mm. Original Kluson deluxe single line tuners, bridge and saddles. The tremolo arm is a repro. All original and undisturbed electrics, the pickups are black bottom bobbins, the neck and the bridge have yellow ink stamps.
Original 3 way toggle switch. The pots do date 22nd week of 1964.
All plastics are original. Very light weight at 7.2Lb!! Comes with the original white tolex hardshell case, stamped dealer fender catalogue and copied hand written notes from the original owner detailing and explaining how it has lost its finish during freezing conditions in the USA.
Very rare and highly collectable guitar!
