1950 Gibson Southern Jumbo Acoustic in Sunburst finish. Introduced in 1942 and essentially a deluxe J45, It featured Gibson’s better tone woods, a 5 ply binding and split parallelogram inlays. Past 70 years of age this guitar has been loved and played a lot and it is easy to know why. It is an amazing player, light and resonant with a very sweet tone. Perfect for flat picking and rhythm guitar playing and also sweet on lead lines. This guitar had a professional neck reset and a couple of small side cracks that have been repaired, as well as a top centre seam split. Solid Mahogany body finished in Sunburst. Solid spruce top with scallopped X-Bracing. C profile mahogany neck with a 12” radius bound rosewood fingerboard and split parallelogram inlays. The nut width is 42.8mm or 1.68”. 628mm Scale length.
